Garden visits
Sue Harrison-Stone
We meet monthly, except in the winter months, to visit local and not so local gardens. We don't have a set day for our visits, as it depends on when the gardens are open. Examples of our visits in 2023 have been to Powys Castle, Lower Hope Gardens, Hergest Croft and David Austin Rose Nursery. We try to ensure that refreshments are available too!

Geology
Zoe Edwards
In this group you will find out how, when and why Shropshire became part of the land we know and love. Field trips are undertaken from April to October. Winter meetings are held in Ludlow Museum Resource Centre where rock samples and fossils are examined. Second Thursday afternoons monthly.

Natural Environment Group
Jackie Hodgson
We meet monthly to take a leisurely stroll through the local countryside with the intention of exploring the flora and fauna emerging during the different seasons. There is no need for personal expertise but a keen interest in wildlife essential. We share knowledge of local events, related books and helpful apps to improve our skills of identification.
Strolling with a Purpose
Ian and Lesley Crosskell
Join relaxed walks of 4 or 5 miles with a friendly group of walkers who enjoy chatting and exploring the local area. We usually meet on the first Friday of the month at a location chosen by the leaders for that walk. Afterwards, for those who want to, we have a pre-booked lunch at a location nearby. There is also a more strenuous walking group called Walking the Shropshire Hills

Walking the Shropshire Hills
Bob Nichols
Typical walks are between 6 and 7 miles and usually involve ascending a hill or two. For example, two of our walks were to the Folly on Wenlock Edge and up to Pole Bank on the Long Mynd. WE are a friendly group and generally finish our walks with a lunch.
There is also an easier walking group called Strolling with a Purpose.
