Shakespeare's Plays, Enjoying

A shared approach to studying a Shakespeare play for fun commencing 6th February 2024 over 8 sessions
Sessions will include: considering the context and themes of the play; reading and speaking some of the lines of the play; analysing and discussing key speeches and aspects of the play; comparisons of productions using DVDs; sharing knowledge and general information about the play and about Shakespeare and sharing the responsibility for facilitating group activities.
Some preparation at home will be required. There will be a small charge for room hire and members will be expected to buy or borrow the specified text.
This year’s play is A Midsummer Night’s Dream which is being performed at the RSC in the spring.

Slide shows or audio visual digital presentations are shown on a big screen TV. We meet on the second Tuesday of the month at Burgess Court, Gravel Hill, Communal lounge, or peoples homes.

Strolling with a Purpose

Join relaxed walks of 4 or 5 miles with a friendly group of walkers who enjoy chatting and exploring the local area. We usually meet on the first Friday of the month at a location chosen by the leaders for that walk. Afterwards, for those who want to, we have a pre-booked lunch at a location nearby. There is also a more strenuous walking group called Walking the Shropshire Hills

Members play table tennis in the Studio at the Ludlow Assembly Rooms every Tuesday afternoon. Equipment is provided and players of all standards are welcome. Members are asked to pay £2.50 a week to cover the cost of room hire, equipment and refreshments.

Walking the Shropshire Hills

Typical walks are between 6 and 7 miles and usually involve ascending a hill or two. For example, two of our walks were to the Folly on Wenlock Edge and up to Pole Bank on the Long Mynd. WE are a friendly group and generally finish our walks with a lunch.
There is also an easier walking group called Strolling with a Purpose.
